A Public Meeting has been scheduled for 26th April at 7.30pm at the Community Centre to have an open discussion about the pool and issues about a way forward. This will allow some assessment of public opinion and support.

Amenity Areas & Open Spaces – September 2016

Recreation Ground Improvements have been completed at Pawson’s playground and a similar refurbishment is taking place on the recreation ground. A new fully accessible roundabout has been installed and a zip wire and play cave are scheduled for installation in the near future. Meetings are to be held shortly to look at the development of the changing rooms and pavilion during 2017 to accommodate female teams and officials when necessary.

Music Festival – a hugely successful, trouble free,  music festival was held last weekend.! The committee and volunteers worked in harmony with the town to produce a true community event of which we should all be proud.

April 2016 – Amenity Areas

AMENITY AREAS. Shower upgrading has taken place in the rec pavilion and is working well. There has been a transfer of top soil to the Western Promenade site to level the area and provide a training facility for sports clubs in the town.

The new storage facility for football and cricket clubs on Bayard Rec is completed and positive publicity has been generated regarding the facility and the strategy for overall improvement. Enquiries have been made regarding a pavilion extension and a number of options are being considered. Work has started on upgrading shower facilities in the current changing rooms. February 2016 – Amenity Areas

The new storage facility for football and cricket clubs ON Bayard Rec is nearing completion and looks to be a top quality building. An official opening ceremony will be held in due course to highlight the project and the funding from Big Society fund. Changing room improvements are being reviewed, and alternatives being explored. BAYARD RECREATION GROUND. Work has started on the new storage facility for football and cricket clubs and is progressing well. The project should be completed by the end of February. Draft lease documents have been drawn up by council solicitors and will be taken forward in discussions with relevant users. Long term plans for changing room improvements are being reviewed, and alternatives being explored. December 2015 – Amenity Areas

BAYARD RECREATION GROUND. A grant of £10,000 has been awarded from the Community Initiative Fund for upgrading play equipment on the Rec. The application was made by the Grounds Manager Terry Hamilton and he is commended for the outcome. The current Mayor, Councillor Jayne Chapman has also managed to obtain an award of £3000 from the Co-op towards a roundabout which is accessible for children with disabilities. It is hoped that a major overhaul and improvement programme of the playground will take place sometime in the Spring next year....

BAYARD RECREATION GROUND. Work is due to start on the new storage units before the end of the year with a completion date early in 2016 subject to weather conditions. New CCTV camera systems are in operation and should be more efficient and effective in tracking any anti-social behaviour or vandalism. A site meeting is to be arranged with the council’s solicitors in the next two weeks to discuss the issue of leases in respect of the Rec.
