Member with Special Responsibility for Regeneration & Town Hard.
Also a Tendring District Councillor and Essex County Councillor
Mary – my wife had the good sense to be born & raised in Brightlingsea and has always lived in the town, but I have only been here for 45 years. This is where we have worked and raised our family, and frankly we both love the place!
Brightlingsea has so much to offer its residents and visitors, and I am pleased to say that it has given us the opportunity to enjoy this unique and wonderful community. We have both taken full advantage of what the Town has to offer and have been involved over the years in much of the social, fund raising and charity groups and organisations within the Town. These have included formal groups such as Round Table, Rugby club, Football club, The liberty, the Gild of freeman, the Sailing club, Bloomers, Hospice support, open gardens, the business association, Community Reach and many more. It has also allowed my businesses to establish & grow and allowed us to enjoy what we think is the most wonderful part of this area – the water! Surely the most exciting part. Two of the highlights for us were 2003 when we were Deputy & Lady deputy to the Cinque Port” and 2007 when we were “Mayor & Lady Mayoress”.
As well as a Brightlingsea Town Councillor, I am also a Tendring District Councillor and I hope that in these positions I can put back a small part of the huge amount that Brightlingsea has allowed me & my family to take out over the last four decades. I was honoured to become the Chairman of Tendring District Council for 2010/11, and it was a great honour to remain the Chairman for 2011/12. In 2014, following a by-election, I was privileged to be elected as ‘Brightlingsea District’ Councillor at Essex County Council.
